EA has revealed the full list of multiplayer modes coming in Battlefield 4.
With the Battlefield 4 beta just around the corner — October 1st for pre-orderers, and October 4th for everyone else — EA and DICE have announced the seven game modes coming at launch, with two of the modes playable during the open beta.
The two game modes playable in the BF4 beta are Conquest and Domination. Conquest and its 64-player support is the mode every Battlefield fan is familiar with — capping different points on a map until one team’s ticket counter hits zero. Domination, which was called Conquest Domination in Battlefield 3, supports up to 20 players total (so 10v10), does not support Commander Mode, and is a “fast-paced infantry variant of Conquest.”
The seven game modes that will be available at launch are:
- Conquest (in the beta)
- Domination (in the beta)
- Obliteration
- Defuse
- Team Deathmatch
- Rush
- Squad Deathmatch
So far, there’s been no mention of Air Superiority, Tank Superiority, Scavenger, Capture the Flag, or Gun Master. Many of these game modes launched in Battlefield 3 DLC packs, so it stands to reason that EA could pull the same move with Battlefield 4.
Along with an official announcement comes an unofficial leak from NeoGAF. Forum member Lakitu says he/she has pieced together the BF4 map list, which is as follows:
- Siege of Shanghai
- Paracel Storm
- Operation Locker
- Damage
- Flooded
- Abandoned
- Golmud Railway
- Resort
- Tremors
- Dish
Again, these map names are not coming from EA officially, and it looks like some of the names are merely image placeholder tags. At the very least, we know there are ten maps being referenced, and we will learn the official names soon enough.
Along with the announced game modes, EA has confirmed that the beta will not be under any sort of NDA. This means beta participants (which is anyone with a gaming PC or current-gen console, sans-Wii), can talk about the game ad nauseam, or stream the game on Twitch.TV, etc. Battlefield community manager Ian Tornay confirmed as much on Twitter earlier today:
