The Lebanese army arrested a wife and daughter of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as they crossed from Syria nine days ago, security authorities told on Tuesday. The officials refused to supply the name or nationality of the lady whom they related as one of his wives.
The Lebanese newspaper As-Safir reported the army had arrested her in coordination with "foreign intelligence apparatus". The detain is a move to Baghdadi and could be utilized as a dealing chip against his group which has arrested many foreign, Iraqi and Syrian prisoners and announced a caliphate across territory his group seized in Syria and Iraq. A senior Lebanese security official said Baghdadi's wife had been travelling with one of their daughters, denying earlier reports that it was his son. DNA tests were conducted to check it was Baghdadi's child, the official said.
